    thx very usefull.. but i m newbie for generating CA and Unique client certificate on server..&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Can you put more details on how to generate CA certificate, and Unique Client Certificate  on the server..&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
have an ubuntu sever..&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

Ok, problem solved : I have to add &amp;#8220;SSLOptions +ExportCertData&amp;#8221; to allow PHP to receive certificat information.

thanks for your article, clean and easy to read. My apache server is running well with certificate auth, but I have no $_SERVER[’SSL_CLIENT_CERT’] variable.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Have you any idea?&lt;br /&gt;

    Interesting, but without identifying the CA certificate is a bit just. I generates a self-signed certificate with the proper CN and it goes ....
